Love is Darkness is #1

Whoot! LID is #1 in contemporary fantasy. And you know what? It happened on Halloween. I feel like I should thank the Earth Mother or Satan or something. Going out of town tomorrow and I need to read to kill a mockingbird. (My daughter is very concerned as to why I would want to read a book on how to kill birds.)

  1. Hi Caroline,

Congratulations on your 1st novel success! I can't wait until I'm in your shoes! I loved your book and I don't often rave about one, but yours is rave worthy!

After reading a few of your blog posts, as a fellow writer I figured I would ask you some questions about how you get your writing done. I have kids around the same age as you mentioned yours were... 3 and 7 and now, my 15 yr old step-daughter has just moved in. What does a day-in-the-life look like for you? Do you get to write and edit every day? Etc...

I find that I am a scattered writer as well and did not plot out my first manuscript, rather I went with the panster method and then ended up cutting over 30k words... Now, manuscript complete, I am nearly finished with my 2nd draft and have been doing some serious plot adjustments that I feel might have been avoided if I'd plotted the book out before writing it???

How has your self-publishing experience been thus far? Did you submit to any major publishing houses first?

Now for the kicker... lol, I've been having a hard time finding quality critique partners. I currently only have one that I've found to be of similar writing level that gives quality feedback. Your writing is of similar flavor to mine and I would love to humbly grovel and ask if you would be willing to work with me as a critique partner... of course if the need for another CP isn't there--then it's not there. I understand if you are full up in that department but I figure it doesn't hurt to ask. I am more than willing to send you a chapter or two of my work and you are of course more than welcome to read my blog. I've just finished posting a non-fic short story about a near drowning experience I had about twelve years ago.

    Thanks, and happy writing!

  3. To Kill a Mockingbird is my favorite book, so I hope you enjoy the read. Are you into YA any? I'm about to read Girl, Stolen and it looks like it will be good. I'm also looking into The Dovekeepers, not YA but it sounds really good.

Congratulations on your success! Enjoy your trip!

  5. Ok so I too am having difficulties finding how to send an email to you saying that I posted a review of your book on GoodReads. Rated it. Loved it! Can't wait for your next book. I keep looking on amazon kindle for the pre-order but nothing is there! Told my friend about your book and how I would add it to my amazon wish list for my birthday (December 3rd) or Christmas but (gasp!) can't. I'm a creature of comfort. I like instant gratification...please add me to your book list but if you don't it's ok. I'll buy it anyways because I Have to know what happens!
